Actress Olivia Munn has revealed a difficult decision she made in her ongoing battle with breast cancer. In a recent interview with Vogue, Munn disclosed that she underwent a total hysterectomy in April, adding another surgery to the four she’s already had since her diagnosis last year.

This life-altering procedure involved removing her uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Munn explained that while a challenging choice, it was ultimately the best course of action to prevent cancer recurrence. Certain cancers, including breast cancer, are fueled by estrogen. By removing the organs that produce estrogen, Munn aims to reduce the risk of her cancer returning.

“It was a big decision to make, but it was the best decision for me because I needed to be present for my family,” Munn shared in the interview. The actress, who shares a young son with comedian John Mulaney, emphasized her desire to be there for her child throughout his life.

The news comes just two months after Munn bravely opened up about her diagnosis of luminal B breast cancer in both breasts. She underwent a double mastectomy followed by reconstructive surgery, a process she documented on social media to raise awareness and inspire others.

The hysterectomy marks Munn’s fifth surgery in this grueling journey.  She also opted to freeze her eggs before the procedure, a decision made even more crucial by the hysterectomy.
