Ben Affleck has praised his ex-partner, Jennifer Lopez, for her outstanding performance in Unstoppable. The actor described her portrayal as “spectacular,” according to Entertainment Tonight. The film tells the inspiring story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who won the NCAA national championship despite being born with only one leg. Lopez plays Judy Robles, the mother of the champion.
Affleck and Lopez, who previously starred together in Gigli and Jersey Girl, also co-produced the new sports drama. In a Zoom interview with Entertainment Tonight, Affleck commended Lopez for delivering an “emotional and powerful” performance as Judy, noting her “special kind of empathy” for the character and how she “did an extraordinary job.”
Lopez responded to his compliments by highlighting how important it was to her to do the character’s story justice. She noted that she consulted with the real-life Judy to ensure the movie was true to her character. The actress also emphasized the importance of bringing her passion to the role and collaborating with her cast members to make it a successful project.
Unstoppable will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 6 and be released in theaters and on Prime Video next year. It stars Don Cheadle, Jharrel Jerome, and Bobby Cannavale. The film is directed by William Goldenberg, who won an Oscar for his work on the 2012 film Argo and has worked with Affleck on films such as Gone Baby Gone and Live By Night.
Affleck and Lopez were married for two years before they split in August 2024. They filed for divorce on the second anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia, citing irreconcilable differences. The former couple shares 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max, from their first marriage.

She made her first red carpet appearance since the separation in a silver dress at the U.K. premiere on Nov. 5. She walked the red carpet alongside Damon and her fellow cast members. Lopez looked stunning in a shimmering silver gown with black velvet bows on the sleeves. She teamed the outfit with silver heels and a matching clutch bag. Her long locks were styled in a sleek ponytail. Affleck, on the other hand, opted for a classic blue suit for the occasion.
