Taylor Swift has generously contributed $5 million (£3.8 million) to aid those impacted by Hurricane Milton, which made landfall along Florida’s coastline on Wednesday, causing widespread devastation. The global pop sensation, recognized as the wealthiest female musician with an estimated fortune of $1.6 billion (£1.2 billion), directed her donation to the non-profit organization Feeding America as celebrities rallied to support communities dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Feeding America’s CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, expressed gratitude on the group’s X account, stating, “Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the fight against hunger and assisting communities in need.”
The state is now bracing for more damage after being ravaged by Hurricane Helene just a few weeks prior.
At 34, Swift is set to perform in Miami next week, marking the final leg of her record-shattering Eras Tour. She has a long history of charitable contributions, including recent donations to 1,400 Trussell Trust food banks in cities like Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, and London, where she performed earlier this summer.
Additionally, Swift made headlines recently by donating $100,000 (£79,400) to support the family of a victim of the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration. She attended the game to cheer on her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce.
On the same day, several country music stars, including Keith Urban, Luke Combs, and Eric Church, revealed plans for a benefit concert titled “Concert for Carolina” to be held later this month in Charlotte, North Carolina, raising funds for those affected by the two storms.
Meanwhile, country singer Morgan Wallen also pitched in by helping gather supplies at a food drive in Knoxville, Tennessee, and contributing $500,000 (£382,000) to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief.
