A week of buildup finally came to a head on Sunday night as pop megastar Taylor Swift watched her rumored beau, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, lead his team to victory in New Jersey. The Chiefs beat the New York Jets 23-20, and Swift was there to cheer them on from a private suite alongside Kelce’s mother, Donna, and several other celebrity friends, including actors Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Hugh Jackman.
The NBC cameras weren’t shy about getting in close-ups of the superstar watching from her 50-yard line luxury box, and it was clear she had a blast as the Chiefs pulled away in the fourth quarter to seal their win. Swift and Kelce are the subjects of a romance rumor that took off after the tight end told his ESPN podcast earlier this summer how he tried and failed to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City.
That story led to speculation that the two are dating, and a photo of Swift with Kelce from an event last month was also taken as evidence of a blossoming relationship. But Swift hasn’t confirmed anything, and her attendance at the game just added more fuel to the fire.
Regardless, Swift’s appearance was one of the highlights of this weekend’s football coverage as it sent ticket sales and viewership for the game soaring. It also helped to send the Chiefs into the national spotlight as a top contender in the AFC West.
This isn’t the first time that Swift has attended a game as a spectator amid romance rumors with Kelce, either. She also showed up at Arrowhead Stadium in September to support the Chiefs and was seen cheering on the team from Kelce’s private box.
Despite a rocky start to the season, the Chiefs are still undefeated at home and sitting in second place in the AFC West with four wins and three losses through six weeks. The team is out to make an impression in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1970 when the Dallas Cowboys beat them.
Hopefully, this is the year the Chiefs return to the playoffs, and Swift and Kelce can cheer them on. Until then, the pair can continue to enjoy the spoils of their hard work on the field and in the locker room as they help make this one of the best seasons for the franchise. The team owes it to them.
