We’ve heard rumors about the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models for a few months. According to a new report, the wait could finally be over in two months, as Samsung is expected to hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event on January 17.
Samsung is reportedly prioritizing the launch of its flagship Galaxy S24 series earlier than usual this year. This is mainly due to the company’s need to boost its revenues, which are currently hampered by a slump in its semiconductor business.
If this report is to be believed, manufacturing partners are already preparing to mass-produce the new S24 models, which will start a month earlier than usual. The Galaxy S24 series will also see the introduction of a few key innovations, including a Titanium frame, a feature the iPhone 15 Pro Max recently introduced. This should help Samsung stand out from the crowd and add a sense of luxury and premiumness to its latest flagships.

Another notable change is that the upcoming flagships are expected to feature a triple-rear camera setup. The standard S24 and S24+ will likely feature wide, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be equipped with a periscope-style telephoto camera.
As for the display, rumors suggest that the S24 Ultra will come with a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) panel featuring a 120Hz refresh rate. It should offer a class-leading contrast, vibrancy, and color rendition. The 5,000mAh battery is also expected to support fast charging up to 45W.
A few other changes are expected to make their way to the S24 series, including a revamped version of the One UI user interface and stereo speakers tuned by AKG. The handsets are also expected to come with Android 14 pre-installed and may include features like Zoom Anyplace and E2E AI Remosaic.
As for the hardware, the S24 models are tipped to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips in all regions. This contrasts the S22 series, which used Exynos processors in some markets but Qualcomm silicon everywhere. However, the S24 Ultra is expected to revert to this practice and use Exynos processors in specific markets while offering a Qualcomm model elsewhere. Whether fans will welcome these changes remains to be seen. As for the launch date, tipster Ice Universe suggests it will happen on January 18, while Korean outlet Biz SBS points to January 17 as a possible release date. In any case, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series is arguably the most anticipated flagship of 2024.
