Kylian Mbappe feels he is starting to form a strong connection with his Real Madrid teammates following his goal in a 3-0 La Liga victory over Leganes on Sunday. The French forward had struggled to find the back of the net since his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain, going four games without scoring in all competitions. However, he broke his drought with the opening goal at the Bernabeu. The 25-year-old was shifted back to his preferred position on the left wing and showed great chemistry with Vinicius Jr., who provided the assist for Mbappe’s goal. On the flank, Mbappe utilized his pace and finishing ability more effectively than he had at PSG. Although his initial goal against Leganes was nearly ruled offside, he soon found the net again from a corner and strengthened his partnership with his fellow forward.
Despite his recent dip in form, Mbappe remains one of the most talented players on the planet and can make an immediate impact for Real at the highest level. However, his integration with a team of world-class stars may take time to perfect.
As with many superstars, there will be ego clashes, and Mbappe must adapt his game to fit in at Madrid. His style of play can be challenging for teammates to understand, and his movement can be erratic at times, but he says things will eventually work out.

There is a growing feeling among Real staff and those close to the club that Mbappe will be best served by being played in a central attacking role, something that would help him utilize his strengths more consistently. He has already expressed this desire to play a more traditional striking role for the national side. Still, the experiment with him as a penalty box center-forward — where he is paired with Olivier Giroud or Aurelien Tchouameni — didn’t work well during the international break.
Against Italy, Mbappe drifted too far from the center of the pitch and was crowded out by his defenders, leading to several missed opportunities. He also struggled in the air and did not score a goal during the match, proving he isn’t suited to playing as a fixed target man.
As Ancelotti has hinted, the solution may lie in fluid movement in attack. Still, his tactical understanding will be tested as he attempts to balance Mbappe with his star-studded squad. The left-wing will remain the territory of Vinicius, with Rodrygo tucked in behind, and Jude Bellingham or Rodrigo is likely to fill in on the right if needed. It could take some time for everything to fall into place, but Mbappe will have the support of president Florentino Perez if it takes a while to find his feet at the Spanish giants.
