Regarding new iPhones, Apple usually delivers some significant upgrades. This year is no exception. The iPhone 15 is likely to launch next month, and if the leaks and rumors are anything to go by, then this will be an impressive upgrade over last year’s model.
For starters, there is a chance that the iPhone 15 series will get thinner bezels. The latest leaked front glass panels designed for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max show that the phones will have noticeably slimmer bezels than their iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max predecessors. The bottom bezel, in particular, has been reduced significantly to create more room for the display. This is a welcome change as the phones will feel less cluttered and have a better overall look and design.
Another significant improvement could be the addition of a faster Wi-Fi chip. Apple’s iPhone 12 and 13 used a Qualcomm modem, but the company is reportedly switching to Intel’s 5G modem in the iPhone 15. This will give the devices faster wireless speeds and a larger coverage area.
The new model is also expected to have more RAM than last year’s models. The iPhone 15 series currently has 6GB of RAM, but the upcoming model is expected to have 8 GB. That should make the devices run smoother and provide more storage space for apps and games.
If the rumors are true, the iPhone 15 will also have a customizable Action button that can do many different things like activate Shortcuts, turn on the camera, enable silent mode, and more. This button will be placed on the side of the phone and is expected to replace the mute switch.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, all the iPhone 15 models will feature a 48MP wide camera with a new stacked sensor design that should improve low-light photos. The wider lens will also allow for pixel binning when shooting at 12MP, resulting in sharper images.
This year, it is also possible that the iPhone 15 will have a 5G Qualcomm modem and support faster wireless charging. It is still being determined if this will be available in the vanilla iPhones or just the Pro models, but either way, it will be a welcome upgrade.
It is also rumored that the iPhone 15 will finally ditch the Lightning port in favor of USB-C. This is likely driven by pressure from the EU, which has pushed Apple to switch to USB-C for years.
Other rumors suggest the iPhone 15 will have a bigger battery, which should help with longer battery life. Additionally, the camera will be upgraded to a dual-camera system that will give you better-zooming capabilities. There is still no word on a release date for the new iPhone 15, but sources say the company will hold its usual September event to unveil it. The launch may be delayed until October.
