The Indonesia AI Nation initiative marks a significant development in the country’s technological landscape, establishing it as a frontrunner in harnessing artificial intelligence’s potential. With a $200 million investment, the center seeks to support technological innovation and skill development by fostering collaboration between international corporations and local entities.
The center will be built in Solo Techno Park, a newly revitalized creative public space supporting technology development in Solo. The facility will have various technologies, including NVIDIA DGX A100 systems, to support education, training, student projects, and lecturer research. In addition, it will be able to support local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing them with a platform for their business growth.
This initiative is a partnership between US chipmaker Nvidia and Indonesia’s telco firm PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, the country’s leading telecommunication company. Both parties will contribute funds to build an artificial intelligence center in Central Java in 2024.
Budi Arie Setiadi, the minister of communication and information, said that the AI center could consist of telecommunication infrastructure or a human resource center. “Indonesia’s telecommunication companies are prioritizing AI to enable new services for enterprises and consumers,” Budi Arie added. “As a result, they need to provide a secure infrastructure for developing and deploying AI models.”
Nvidia offers a wide range of AI products, from entry-level GPUs to high-performance accelerated computing systems. It also provides developers with tools and software to accelerate the speed of their AI applications. This includes the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI), which provides university students with hands-on AI training.
NVIDIA’s latest offering is the Blackwell chip, which can handle large, trillion-parameter language models and deliver 25x better performance than its predecessor. It is expected to be used by big players in the industry, such as Google, Amazon Web Services, Dell Technologies, Oracle, and Microsoft.
The company’s AI experts can guide customers in selecting the proper hardware and software. They can also help customers implement AI in a production environment, including a deep learning pipeline for data processing, model training, and inference. The NVIDIA AI Suite is available to customers worldwide through its channel partners.
