Dolce & Gabbana is a top Italian fashion house that makes dresses and clothing with a sensual appeal. Combining modern, daring ideas with immutable traditions of ancient Italian culture characterizes its product. Many famous people, including Madonna, Adam Lambert, Naomi Campbell, Kate Middleton, Kylie Minogue, and many other celebrities, are patrons of this world-famous brand for their unique ideas and superior quality.
The Dolce & Gabbana show was held in Milan, Italy, and was filled with beautiful models. The show was called “Sleek” and featured a range of long, textured coats and waist-length jackets. The autumn to winter line-up was primarily black, with touches of white, grey, and denim.
In their show notes, designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said the collection aimed to channel “the recovery of values that make up the heritage of this family-run Maison.” The duo also wanted to celebrate traditional masculine shapes and evoke a sense of strength.
Dolce & Gabbana opted to take inspiration from the ginkgo leaf, which represents longevity and endurance. The motif appeared in jacquards and prints throughout the collection and on belted mac coats, sleeveless leather shearling vests, and embroidered blouses. The designers even used the leaves to adorn footwear, including soft high-top hiking boots and moccasins.
The line-up was rounded out with leather pants, long, patterned blazers, and a wide variety of knitwear. Dolce & Gabbana is known for its expert tailoring, and that was on display in the form of sharply tailored suits, a series of double-breasted shearling jackets, and oversized trousers with pressed creases. The designer even reinterpreted the cargo jacket for a mature audience, offering it in single and double-breasted styles.
As a nod to the city of Milan, Dolce & Gabbana included a pair of curved railings from the Porta Venezia subway station on the runway. Designed by Franco Albini in 1964, the curved handrails became a visual motif for the entire collection and evoked the line that the M1 metro train carves across the city.
Partway through the show, a model walked down the catwalk holding a chunk of the railings. It was a subtle and elegant accessory that spoke to the theme of urban re-invention that Dolce & Gabbana explored this season.
Dolce & Gabbana’s new menswear collection has been met with critical acclaim and is guaranteed to be a hit on the street style scene this autumn. The new collection is a fusion of classic and contemporary, with tailored pieces and looser shirts that will be worn in layers to create a modern look. It’s a look that will appeal to all men, from those looking for something stylish and sophisticated to those who prefer a more relaxed approach. The line-up is a true wardrobe staple and will easily see you through the year.
