The rumors are flying, and Apple is ready to kick off its second product launch of the year. The company’s next event is scheduled for October 31st and will be dubbed the “Scary Fast” event, a clear nod to its new M3 chip that’s expected to offer ‘scary’ speeds in upcoming Mac models.
According to Cult of Mac, Apple’s invite also supports the notion that the event will be a significant Mac product launch, with a picture of a MacBook Pro and its new M3 processor. The company typically holds its events in the morning, but this event will take place in the evening and is expected to include a refresh of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro, as well as a new 24-inch iMac with the M3 chip.
The M3 chip will significantly improve over its predecessor, the M2. The new chips will have a 3nm manufacturing process and reportedly provide a dramatic performance boost. The new MacBook Pro is also rumored to feature USB-C ports and support Thunderbolt 3 data transfers, and a refreshed version of the iPad mini may also be unveiled.
While many rumors are swirling about what will be revealed, the most important thing to remember is that this is a virtual event. No one can attend in person, which changes the usual routine. The event will begin at 5 pm PT, which is considerably later than the usual start time for an Apple product launch, but the evening time is likely a nod to Halloween.
There are a few different ways to watch the event, including via Apple’s website and the Apple Events app. The event will also be live-streamed through YouTube and the Apple TV app on various devices. Apple will also be offering the event in 4K.
