Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan treated her fans with the ultimate Christmas surprise. On Tuesday, December 24, Vanessa took to her Instagram to break the news of her engagement with boyfriend James Karnik. The Riverdale alum, 32, said yes to Canadian professional basketball player at Glow Langley in Canada.
“Merry Christmas Eve from me and fiancé (crying, ring, and gift box emoji).” She penned the caption of the carousel featuring snaps from the newly engaged couple’s special moment. “James knows how much I love Christmas, especially all the festive lights, so he took me to the Langley Glow Light festival.”
The series of loved-up snapshots from the dreamy proposal ended with a video where Morgan showed off her 4.64-carat oval-shaped engagement ring featuring a 14k rose gold band.
“We were walking around, and I honestly thought he was going to propose on Christmas morning, so it came as a complete shock when it happened.” The couple’s sweet nighti8me proposal was illuminated by twinkling Christmas lights. Just as sparkling was the rock that Karnik gave his fiancé.
“When I saw the ring, it was stunning and in that magical moment, with the lights all around us,” Morgan shared. She described the ring as the best Christmas present even. Karnik shared his happiness about designing the ring, revealing that he had a great experience working with Brilliant Earth to create a truly unique ring based on what Vanessa loves.
Karnik had recently injured his foot, which at first made Vanessa Morgan question if he would be able to navigate the event. “James had just injured his foot, we weren’t sure if it was a break or a sprain at the time, but he was on crutches,” Morgan revealed.
Morgan and Karnik announced their engagement in July, months after welcoming their first child, a daughter named Kaia. It is worth mentioning that Kaia is Morgan’s second baby. She is also a mother of a three-year-old son named River, from her previous marriage with Michael Kopech.
Morgan and Kopech became engaged in 2019, married in January 2020, and filed for divorce six months later while Morgan was pregnant with River. “Excited for this next step in life and couldn’t be happier with the person I’m doing it with,” Karnik revealed. The groom-to-be can’t wait for their next chapter as a family.
