Elon Musk utilized social media to express his apprehensions regarding the economic consequences of illegal immigration. His remarks contribute to the broader discussion concerning the approach of the Joe Biden administration to what some perceive as a border crisis. On the platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk outlined several services and benefits that, in his opinion, may be accessible to illegal immigrants in the United States. Furthermore, he raised inquiries about the extent to which these migrants contribute to the nation’s housing affordability challenges.
One of the most prominent business people in the world, Musk owns Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, Neuralink, and X Corp. His companies employ around 150,000 people worldwide. Musk, who has a net worth of about $225 billion, often uses his X account to address controversial topics and to defend his right to free speech.
In a post on X, the entrepreneur highlighted the fact that many of these migrants are children who are brought to the United States without their mothers’ consent. According to Musk, these migrant children are often forced to live on the fringes of society and must make tough choices when they grow up. He went on to argue that these children should not be granted automatic citizenship because they lack the financial and moral support of their parents.
Musk’s assertion that new migrants are a drain on the economy was backed up by data, which show that they have higher rates of unemployment, lower wages, and more health problems than those born in the US. The tech tycoon also claimed that it is unfair that new migrants are not required to pay taxes or serve jury duty. He argued that these migrants should be made to pay more in taxes and contribute to the welfare system before they are allowed to become citizens.
In another post, Musk called out the Anti-Defamation League for stoking hatred against Jews. The Jewish-led nonprofit organization works to combat antisemitic incidents and hate crimes in the United States and around the world. “Sadly, a group that is supposed to be fighting against racism and hate attacks Jews for no other reason than their religion,” Musk wrote.
The entrepreneur also claimed that the Biden administration is allowing an influx of illegal migrants into the United States to legalize them and shift the nation’s political landscape toward a one-party state. He compared the financier George Soros to Magneto, a supervillain from the X-Men comic book series, in a reference that has been heavily scrutinized for antisemitic tropes by the alt-right.
Musk frequently criticizes the Democratic Party and its handling of immigration. He has recently slammed the party for its stance on climate change and criticized Mayor De Blasio over his handling of a fatal attack on two NYPD officers last week. He has also slammed a Democratic member of Congress over her remarks on Holocaust denial and backed calls for impeachment against the president’s deputy chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney.
