A diamond is a girl’s best friend, and Christina Aguilera brought all her besties to the opening night of her new Las Vegas residency. The pop star, 43, debuted her Sin City show on Saturday, December 31, at the intimate Voltaire Belle de Nuit venue, which is located inside the Venetian Resort Las Vegas.
The deluxe theater only seats 1,000 fans per performance, and the entire set was decked out in gorgeous couture frocks that perfectly coordinated with Aguilera’s outfits. Production designer Derek McLane even included a glitzy chandelier that was lit up with crystals and sparkled to match the singer’s gowns.
From a shimmering silver bodysuit to a sexy lace number, Aguilera dazzled in all kinds of glam looks throughout the night. She performed her biggest hits, including? Fighter,??Genie in a Bottle? and numbers from her 2010 movie Burlesque.
In a nod to her previous career as a Christian musician, Aguilera also sang a gospel song,?Wagon Wheel Watusi.? She was then joined onstage by dancers dressed like priests who carried canisters of incense. The sultry scent filled the air as Aguilera belted out the Kanye West-produced track,?Maria.? Aguilera climbed up a tiered staircase, wearing a blue robe cinched by a navy corset. During that section, the screens on the stage turned into stained glass windows, creating an ethereal church-like setting.
Aguilera will continue her Las Vegas shows through May 2024 at the Voltaire, which opened earlier this year after Kylie Minogue became the venue’s first resident artist. The singer has already donated one dollar from each ticket sale to the Shade Tree. This non-profit offers emergency shelter for women and children in crisis due to domestic violence, human trafficking, or both.
KSNV reports that Aguilera will perform 22 songs during her new Las Vegas gigs, including reenacting a Burlesque Cher and Ali scene. The star, who celebrates her 43rd birthday on Friday, shared an Instagram carousel video from the venue.
The diva will be followed by Def Leppard, who will begin their run in August, and current Planet Hollywood resident Gwen Stefani, whose show? The Xperience,? was forced to cancel several dates during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aguilera has been busy over the past few months, completing her tour and performing in New York.s Pride festival. The mother-of-two is also involved in philanthropic work for organizations such as AIDS Project Los Angeles, Declare Yourself, and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. The singer is also a businesswoman, launching a cosmetic line and a fragrance called Xtina.
Despite the busy schedule, Aguilera celebrated her husband of five years, Matthew Rutler, on Christmas Day with a sweet snap of the pair together in front of the Santa Claus tree. She also shared a sexy selfie with her beau and another picture of her holding their daughter, Summer.
