Your next Apple Watch is one that you will certainly love compared to the previous models. This is partly because it can do something no previous model could. By this we mean listen to a conversation and quietly help you remember it.
That’s fascinating for just about anyone who has been using the watch. Apple is bringing two audio intelligence features, Siri Recap and Live Rewind, to the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 through a late-2026 beta.
Both are inside Apple’s broader Audio intelligence suite in watch0S 27. They are designed to capture spoken information without the need to retain raw audio as an accessible recording.
What Audio Intelligence Features Do
Audio intelligence on Apple Watch counts on the tight integration of hardware and software with the latest AI models to provide four new features. These features are sound recognition, music recognition, live rewind, and Siri Recap.
Of course, it is always better to understand what makes each of these features unique. Sound Recognition is the feature that detects important sounds. This applies to sounds like sirens, alarms, and doorbells. It then notifies you even when your iPhone isn’t with you. It comes in handy for people who are deaf or those with a hearing issue.

The Music Recognition feature with Shazam automatically detects the song playing in the background. It then displays the title and artist name in the Smart Stack. This is without you having to tap the widget.
Then there’s the Live Rewind feature. This feature recalls what was just said in the last 15 seconds by showing a text snippet on your Apple Watch. All you have to do is double-press the Digital Crown. You can always use this feature to catch something you missed or one you are less familiar with. All it takes is for you to ask Siri about the content of the snippet or you can choose to save it to the Siri app.
As for the Siri Recap feature, it takes notes on your conversations throughout your day. It then creates high-level Apple Intelligence-generated summaries you can use later to jog your memory. This means you’ll always be present in the moment. Your summaries auto-delete after 7 days if you decide not to save them.
Perfect for Privacy Protection
Audio Intelligence on Apple Watch was precisely built to help protect your privacy. And it makes this possible in so many different ways. The Audio intelligence features don’t create audio recordings. Nothing to record, share, forward, or produce if requested by any party.
You should remember that audio also flows into a protected buffer inside the S11 chip’s Secure Exclave. What this simply means is that raw audio is never accessible. And the best part is that Siri Recap and Live Rewind help jog your memory rather than offering a detailed record.
These features expand what a smartwatch can do with spoken information. Whether Siri Recap and Live Rewind hold up in real conditions will only become clear once the beta arrives in late 2026.
